"Painting In Abstract"

I am back at the water’s edge -

in reflection – of where life

has taken me – I know,

I am a stranger bird here,

lisping Shakespeare and

Chaucer in alien notes –

I look into the water and

see another –

I seek myself in autumnal hues –

My life is a painting in abstract –

I have no choice of colours –

they just flow over me –

I cannot even decide the

strokes – I can only stare

at the sky, as he dips his

brush into rainbow water

and bleeds his colours

into me…
